Bedok Town Military Band
Establish in the 1980s
Bedok Town Military Band has a rich history dating back to the 1980s. With the Band Motto 'WE ARE FAMILY', we learnt to work in a team and perform music for our own pleasure and the pleasure of others. We have provided entertainment at school, public places and also community functions. To date the band has actively performed in various functions at the Istana, Mandai Zoo, Chingay Procession, MacRitchie Reservoir, Marina Square, Hougang Mall, War Memorial, Shangri-la Hotel, and our school's first musical night, Exposé 2004. The Band also had regular musical exchanges with other bands. The band held their successful concert 'Rhapsody II' at TJC Auditorium in June 2006 under our current instructor Mr. Xaven Chng. Recently, we had performed for the N.S Marathon at Suntec City.

I think you guy/girls should take note of some of these things like
ATTIRE
Tuesdays - always uniform, unless there's something special going on,
this is the EASIEST attire to follow so please come in uniform
some more this is Mr Poh's practice day
Thursday- always PE ATTIRE, if you guys have on that day then we'll just stink up the
room together than!
Saturday- BAND T + PE shorts, any black shorts are fine actually...
Oh yeah also on sat usually zakir, yusuf and me go to reach school between 6.30- 7.00 to have break fast so if u feel like tagging along just tell any of us, i actually started going to band that early cause last time i didnt noe what time to come...
And after band we go MAC you can tag along if you want too, sometimes Mr Poh will join us haha
Oh yes before i go, please help me spread the word that the blog being updated more! i wanna make the counter go to 1500++ by the end of feb if possible haha

Conductor
Mr. Kenrick Poh
Mr. Kenrick Poh started learning the Piano at the age of 10 and soon after began his long association with wind band music, when he join the school band in Springfield Secondary School. Under the baton of his Band Directors and Mentors, Mr. Ong Tee Hoe and Ms. Sia Swee Suan, he was given many opportunities in developing his musical and leadership skills.
At the age of 15, he conducted his first performance, as the student conductor of the Springfield Military Band and the following year, he began his career as a school band director upon graduation. In 2003, at a tender age of 17, he led his alma matar to achieved their 1st Silver medal for the SYF Central Judging of Concert Bands.
The following year, he led the Combined School Band of Ping Yi and Springfield Secondary School to achieve their 1st Gold Medal in the SYF Central Judging of Display Bands. They were also subsequently invited to perform for the SYF Opening Ceremony in 2004 and the National Day Parade in 2005.
In December 2004, he also participated in the Asia Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand and in 2006, was also awarded the 1st Prize of the 3rd Division in the 1st National Band Competition(Singapore).
Soon after, he had to disrupt his musical journey to serve National Service. During his National Service, he continued his quest for excellence and was awarded several medals, from Platoon Best Recruit in his BMT days, to Company Best Trainee and subsequently the School Best Support Staff. In 2009, after a 2 years hiatus, he is back to pursue his musical career.
Presently an undergraduate of the University of London, studying for his Banking and Finance Degree, he has also completed the Specialist Diploma in Band Directing from the National Institute of Education as well as Diploma in Logistics and Operations Management from Temasek Polytechnic.
Kenrick is currently the Band Director of Ping Yi Secondary School Marching Band and Bedok Town Secondary School Military Band. Prior to this, he has worked with Springfield Secondary School Military Band, Junyuan Secondary School Symphonic Band and Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School Concert Band.
